Document exactly what the sample approval allows
Approval is more useful when its limits are explicit. Identify the configuration accepted, the outstanding exceptions and who owns the final deployment decision.
Product scope
Keep the sample SKU, revision and serial number next to the planned production order.
Host scope
Name the tested host, firmware, peer optic and fiber route. Do not silently extend acceptance to another platform.
Change control
List changes that require review: coding, components, mechanical top, optical scheme or operating conditions.
